You’re thinking I’ve bought something big. Newp. I got a Blockbuster subscription! This means I can finally watch the first 4 seasons of ‘Ally McBeal’! And all of ‘North & South’! And every movie from the past 20 years that I’ve thought about renting at some point…oh boy, maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.
Oh, on the topic of movies, I watched ‘Good Night & Good Luck’ last weekend. I walked in about 25 minutes after the movie had started and never managed to figure out what the hell was going on. I’m not sure where I stand on the topic of documentaries-masquerading-as-blockbusters. I have a lot of respect for Clooney, particularly his measured political views, but this movie presented just too small a slice of the McCarthy situation to be of any use as a historical recap of the facts, and was just too dry to have value as a feature film (so to speak). The thing with Robert Downey and Patricia Clarkson (who looked like his mother!) was just impinging on the movie’s theme and seemed like a desperate attempt by the scriptwriter to inject some life and personality into the movie.
In other news, I’m devoting this weekend to Getting Something Done. I’m not sure what yet — I’ve been procrastinating plenty recently — but it’ll probably be one of these: * Finish reading ‘Song of Solomon’ * Finish reading the Baxter & Rennie that Ed loaned me 6 WEEKS AGO! * Doing a full plyometrics session * Learning more about Catalyst * Customising the theme on this blog * Working on my shiny Web 2.0 webapp
Right, I’ve got a pizza getting cold…
