Web 2.0 Business Plans

18Nov05

Lots of excellent commentary on Web 2.0 business plans. I’m just going to post the links here — it’s all worth reading! Web 2.0 day three: Silly business ideas Web 2.0: Land of Opportunity, or Land of Absurdity? Flock and Web 2.0: The Leaning Tower of Buzz — the title here is pure genius, BTW. There’s an excellent [...]

Business Plan Generator

18Nov05

I’m almost certain this wouldn’t make a workable business, but I’ve been thinking for a while now that I should put a ‘business plan generator’ on my list of projects. It really pisses me off when I have a cool idea (typically in the shower) that I can’t wait to put on paper before I [...]

Web Calendars

17Nov05

Web calendars are the social software of choice right now, it seems. There’s a nice round-up of the choices, including the more standard ones like AOL and Yahoo!, here. I finally got a login for CalendarHub, so I spent a few minutes this morning checking it out. Like Kiko, it’s a Ruby-on-Rails app. Kiko has [...]

Indiana U. PSA website

09Nov05

Hmm…I tried Googling myself yesterday to see if my blog had been listed. My blog was nowhere to be seen (I’m seriously starting to wonder if this is because Typo doesn’t lend itself to indexing as easily as static pages might), but to my surprise, the Indiana University Pakistani Students’ Association website turned up in [...]

New skin!

04Nov05

Final post of the day, before I go into hibernation. At long last, I’ve exercised the gluteals and updated my Typo theme. Many thanks to Samuel, who created this theme and submitted it to the Typo theme contest. Two thumbs up!

Pope John Paul II on the path to sainthood

04Nov05

This is just so ridiculous: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4543501.stm Not just the beatification/canonisation processes, which require a miracle to have been ‘ascribed’, but simply the fact that they’re looking for a miracle so that they can get the process rolling. It’s completely backwards, and makes you wonder what the true value/point of sainthood is.

DRIVE dammit.

I played better than last week this Tuesday, but once again did not encourage any physical contact at all, instead hoisting up lots of silly shots. Yes, my shooting has improved considerably, but I’m not that good. Oopar sai, I’ve gotten slightly weaker since I haven’t been hitting the gym the last month and a [...]

AJAX zealotry, security

04Nov05

There’s an interesting story in the Wall Street Journal about AJAX. The tone is wide-eyed and reveals the writer’s naivete, but it highlights some interesting things. VCs are clearly going ga-ga over AJAX apps, despite knowing they’re not going to completely replace the desktop. Equally importantly, startups’ core product quality is being overlooked in the quest for [...]
